Spend Time with Yourself & Reward YourselfExcerpt from Week 3 - A Course in Self-Care by Ankita S. How easy or hard has been for you to love and accept yourself unconditionally so far? If you are like most people, then this has likely not been an easy journey for you. You might be struggling with crippling self-doubt, constant self-abnegation, and instant self-criticism. I just want to tell you that no matter where you are in your journey right now, things ARE GOING TO START LOOKING UP if you only persist with this course and continue doing what you must do to get to your goal of effortless self-care and boundless self-love. Now, let me ask you something: What do you do when you are in love with someone? You give them all your attention and spend as much time as you possibly can with them. Isn’t it? Have you been spending any time with yourself without constantly looking for distractions so that you don’t have to face the voice within your own head? Today I want to urge you to spend time with yourself. Dare to be alone with no one but your own self for company. No matter how uncomfortable this makes you, I want you to do it and I want you to start from today. Also remember that growth starts at the end of our comfort zone. Greatness is not achieved by living a comfortable life – it is achieved by constantly moving out of our comfort zone to face new challenges that compel us to raise our standards and hold up our own self to a new much higher one. What do you do when you are trying to build a relationship with someone? You spend time with them. Isn’t it? This week, I dare you to be alone – completely alone (even if it is only for 5 minutes). During this alone time, watch the thoughts that float in your mind, the memories that gain shape in the ether of your consciousness, the emotions that swell up within the depths of your heart. I dare you to experience it all without trying to run away from anything. Watch your own consciousness unfold itself to you without judgment, and also without indulgence. Allow what is coming to come in its own accord, and let go when it must go.

An InvitationYou are invited to join a tribe of women world-wide who endeavor to integrate self-awareness, self-care, self-healing, and self-responsibility into their lives by incorporating a variety of body-mind-spirit practices including: mind-body practices, biologically-based therapies, body based methods, energy therapies, good nutrition and exercise, lifelong learning, and self-assessment. In selecting approaches to self-care, we honor the unique development of our own psychological-social-cultural self, intellectual self, spiritual self and body. Through continuing education, practice and self-work, we develop the skills of authentic and deep self-reflection and introspection needed to understand ourselves and our journey. We recognize that this is a lifelong process. We strive to achieve harmony/balance in our lives. We learn about healing from the inside and can identify our limitations and our strengths. When we experience the self-care process we develop self-love and compassion for ourselves, create healthy environments, learn how to let go of self-destructive behaviors and attitudes, and practice centering and stress-reduction techniques. We understand that in order to be available for others, we must undertake the process to become healed and whole first. By doing so, we affirm ourselves as role models to those we interact with and serve (family, friends, workmates, clients, etc.). A great way to begin your commitment to your Holistic Self-Care Journey is to take the Life Balance Assessment.
